Two kilometres of continuous rampart, unbroken since the seventeenth century, and the one ticket worth buying whatever else you skip. Adults €40 from 1 March to 30 November; ages 7 to 18 and students €15 and €5; under-sevens free. The winter rate is lower — reported at around 15 to 20 euro — but the figure and the exact date window vary between sources. Check citywallsdubrovnik.hr before you travel. The walls are a single uninterrupted circuit with no re-entry — once you leave through any gate, you would have to buy another ticket to go back up. Walk the whole lap in one go. The multi-day window on the ticket applies to the Fort Lovrijenac portion, which you can use on a different day. Enter at Pile, Ploče or St Luke's. Open daily except Christmas Day, about 8:00 to 19:30 in summer and shorter in winter — the seasonal table is on citywallsdubrovnik.hr and does change. Go at opening or late afternoon; there is no shade, and the midday stone is genuinely hard going.

Included with the City Walls ticket, which makes it the best-value stop in the city. Official hours are 8am to 7.30pm June to September, 8am to 6.30pm in April, May and October, and 8am to 3pm November to March. A standalone ticket is quoted at around €15 and the free-with-walls window is reported as three days, but both figures come from a reseller rather than the official shop, so confirm before you plan around them. Best before ten, both for the light and for the climb.

The official 2026 fares are €30 adult return and €17 one way; children aged 4 to 12 pay €8 return and €5 one way, under-fours free. It runs April to November and is closed January to March and December. Hours shift through the season: 09:00–21:00 in April, to midnight in June, July and August, 09:00–17:00 in November. The last car up leaves thirty minutes before closing, and the whole system stops in high wind or lightning — so a booked sunset is never guaranteed. Tickets are sold at the lower station, cash or card at the desk, card only at the machine. At the top, the Homeland War Museum in Fort Imperial, built by the French in 1812, costs €5 for adults and €3 for students.

A fifteen-minute boat ride and a complete change of temperature. The 2026 reserve ticket is €30 for adults, which includes the return boat, €10 for students and €5 for ages 7 to 18; under-sevens free. Arriving on a private boat does not avoid the fee — you still buy the reserve ticket at the Forester's House. Boats leave the Old Port from 09:00; the current schedule shows the last return at 19:00, while an earlier-season 2026 timetable showed 20:00, so pull the latest PDF from lokrum.hr before you sail. Nobody is allowed to stay overnight. On the island: a Benedictine monastery, botanical gardens, a saltwater lake called the Dead Sea, protected peacocks you should not feed, and Fort Royal.

€15 for adults at the palace alone, or €20 for the combined ten-museum ticket valid seven days — which is the better buy the moment you plan a second museum. It covers the Rector's Palace, Maritime Museum, Ethnographic Museum, Archaeological Exhibitions at Fort Revelin, Natural History Museum, the Homeland War Museum, the House of Marin Držić, the Museum of Modern Art and two galleries. Hours are widely given as 9:00 to 18:00 in summer and 9:00 to 16:00 in winter with Monday closures off-season, from a secondary source; check dumus.hr.

Free nave, Titian above the altar, and a Treasury of some 130 reliquaries including the gold reliquaries of St Blaise, the city's patron. The Treasury fee is reported at €3 to €5 with no official price page to confirm it. Mass is at 07:30 and 18:00 on weekdays and 09:00, 10:00 and 18:00 on Sundays, with July and August shifting the evening service to 20:00.

The 1667 earthquake survivor, now the State Archives. Courtyard free for most of the year, ticketed in summer at €5 individual and €3 group, and not covered by the Dubrovnik Card. The Homeland War Memorial Room on the ground floor is the most important twenty minutes in the Old Town; it opens 10:00 to 15:00 in winter and 9:00 to 21:00 from May to October.

The Franciscan Monastery inside Pile Gate holds the 1317 pharmacy and a fine cloister; reported at about €10. The Dominican Monastery near Ploče, quieter, has the Gothic cloister and a Titian, reported at about €5 and not included in any combined ticket. Neither price could be confirmed on an official page.

By day, the Archaeological Exhibitions on the ground floor: €5 for adults, €3 for students, or covered by the €20 museum ticket. By night in season it is a nightclub, open roughly 22:30 to 05:30 from early May to mid-October. The two have nothing to do with each other, which surprises people who booked a morning visit.

Stradun itself, the two Onofrio fountains of the 1440s, Orlando's Column on Luža Square, the Old Port at dusk, and the lanes climbing north off the main street where laundry still hangs between the houses. None of it costs anything and most of it is better at eight in the morning.
